This is a followup from my previous section on Heart Burn - What is it?

If the sensation is felt only once in a while you may not feel any discomfort at all. But if the symptoms are frequent, there will be long term effects.

It is important to get the advice from a health care professional as feeling of heart burn may not be due to acid re-flux at times. Sometimes conditions of the heart (MI - Myocardial infarction - Heart attack) can mimic an episode of heart burn.

Please seek urgent medical attention if you have following symptoms.

  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Pain going along your arms or to the jaws
  • Sweating
  • Pounding of the heart (Palpitations)
  • Vomiting
  • Changes in your usual heart burn symptoms

(But don't worry, conditions of the heart presenting as usual heart burn is uncommon. But it is important to think about it as it will require urgent medical attention.)

So going back to your usual heart burn, let's look at what we can do to treat it.
