This is a procedure where a camera is introduced to look inside of your back passage. It can be used to visualize the whole of the large bowel.
In this picture, what is being highlighted is the large bowel. It usually has a length of about 1.5 meters. But from patient to patient these values can vary.
Colonoscope is a long tube which is typically about 170cm long (can range from 168 cm to 200cm). Outer side of this tube is made in such a way that allows it to glide easily inside the bowel. Inner makings are such that it allows multiple channels. One such channel contains a bundle of optic fibers that transmit the image at tip of the instrument to the outside (Which allows us to see what is inside). There are multiple other channels that transmit light towards the tip and channels that is used to introduce tiny instruments that allows the doctors to perform various procedures.
